Back in 1999 I interviewed to become a Pontiac salesman right as they had purchased the franchise from Dick Poe. My first born was not even a month old and I still remember the warm blue sweater he wore in his carrier. My wife was fine with the adventure we were about to embark in and in a few short years we helped Crawford Buick GMC become a GM dealer of Presidential Leadership Distinction. Early on I recognized that Pontiac was as good as any Mercedes or BMW at a fraction of the price, who wouldn’t take me up on that deal right. This was before the age of JD Powers accolades bestowed on our product line. I mean it was really down to the nitty gritty demos focused on performance. As you may have guessed has been brands such as Toyota, Honda, and Nissan proved to be of no match for the “we build excitement Pontiac”. Now in similar fashion I have identified a bigger trend cycle that I am bursting with elation to share with you. First let me say it this way. We are an American Premium brand which means our style is very distinctive but to emphasize the nature of the luxury to be had I will have to go to Roll Royce of not too long ago to stress how much more technology is built into our product line than when David Ogilvy was around promoting Bentley’s and Rolls Royce. It’s an honor not only to be in the company of past great advertising men telling this story but also to see firsthand how the democratization of technology can touch everyone’s lives in so many different ways. There are textures to materials that translate a sense of being spoiled when you sit behind the wheel of our product line.
